Student of the Month recipients are nominated by middle school teachers and voted upon.
September's "Student of the Month" is, 5th grade student Porter O. Here is what his teachers have to say about him: Porter is a sweet student who always has a positive attitude in the classroom. He works very hard, and cares about doing well. He practices his work regularly (such as daily spelling practice) because he wants to make sure that he is doing his best. Porter is a good friend and a good classmate. He never says a mean word about another student, and he is very kind and supportive of the other students he works with.
