Harrisburg School District will continue Comprehensive Distance Learning for the remainder of the week for grades 2-12. Teachers have the option to either work from home or at school. We will continue limited instruction for K-8 students in special programs with teachers Ms. Butler, Ms. Ginder and Ms. Holte. We plan to bring our kindergarten and first grade students back for limited instruction of two hours a day for the remainder of the week. Principal Geddes will communicate her plans for the week of September 21st and beyond as Linn County has clearance to bring K-3rd grade students back for full day in-person learning. If you have any questions, call your school's main office.
Parents of K-3 graders, please have your child let his/her teacher know if they will be eating lunch at school when they arrive each day. We are trying to give our kitchen a lunch count. Remember, breakfast and lunch is free through December.

HS Families- Canvas is up and running. Please follow these important steps for your students to be able to login to Canvas. 1. Click on the Canvas Login link on the HS website. There is a button on the picture next to the Registar and FamilyID buttons. 2. This brings you to the Canvas login page. Your student needs to click on the Forget Password link. 3. Your student needs to enter their school email address and click on the Reset Password link. It may take up to 30 mins to receive an email from Canvas. 4. Once the email is received your student will be asked to reset their password. Once your student is able to login in to Canvas, they may not be able to see their classes. Canvas is still loading the courses and students.

Starting Tuesday, Sept 8th, Grab and Go meals are will be available kids ages 0-18, free of charge. Grading during Distance Learning Recently, Oregon Department of Education (ODE) provided guidance around grading during the Distance Learning for All,(DL4A) for grades 9-11. Harrisburg School District made the decision to move to a Pass/No Pass/Incomplete system for grades 3-11. This holds students current GPA’s harmless during this closure. The teachers will determine grades of Pass/No pass/ Incomplete based on the staff interaction with students and work completed. Teachers are tracking their students who participate during the connection times and work completed.

The drop off box at the high school is for high school work only. The drop off box between the elementary school and JR high is for their work only. The drop off box at high school in front of the school by the bike rack. The drop off box for elementary and JR high is between the elementary and JR high schools. It is located across the street from the tennis courts- facing 6th street. It is up against the school and is white in color. Please only put homework packets in the drop off box. The governor's executive order gave five stipulations for school districts to do in order to receive state school funding. One of those is to continue paying employees through the closure. We are looking into having staff perform painting and possibly other maintenance items around the district while following social distancing guidelines. We are planning to have classified staff work with teachers and be available for phone calls, paper packet copying and collating each week.

Just to let everyone know, all Jr/Sr High school students will be provided some form of supplemental learning for their classes. Staff is spending this week creating material and getting devices/packets deployed to families. Teachers will be communicating with families and students to make sure they can access the materials. As a school district we will offer supplemental education and learning opportunities for our students. The principals's are working with their teachers towards this end. We have a planning meeting scheduled for Monday, March 30 and begin implementation April 1, 2020.
We learned yesterday from Oregon Department of Education that they plan to focus first on creating pathways for graduation for all seniors in the state. As a district we will have a plan in place for our seniors and all high school students the week after spring break.
Based on state and federal guidelines, we must remind parents that we serve meals to students. During our grab-n-go time students/children must be present to receive the meals. We cannot give the meals to parents of children. Thank you for understanding.
