Dear Harrisburg Middle School Families,
I am happy to announce that we are able to offer students an opportunity to receive limited in-person instruction during the school day. Our limited in-person instruction (LIPI) will have a focus on Social/Emotional learning, as well as, offering academic support during their ninety minute sessions.
Students will be able to develop an understanding of the importance of goal setting and how to achieve their goals. Additionally students will be able to participate in socially distanced team building activities. There will also be other opportunities for students to participate in other social/emotional activities, as well.
During their ninety minute sessions your student will also receive academic support for their classes. These supports will include help with homework, note taking, and/or test preparation. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with their core classroom teachers for support.
Please understand that this is voluntary and that the district cannot provide transportation for students at this time. It is also important to understand that students will be required to stay for the entire ninety minute period.
Safety precautions will be enforced while your student is on campus. This includes wearing a mask, remaining socially distanced from other students and sitting in classrooms that have been thoroughly sanitized by our well-trained staff.
Our LIPI schedule is the following:
5th grade: 1:30 - 3:00 every Tuesday and Wednesday (until December 7)
6th grade: 1:30 - 3:00 every Monday and Wednesday (until December 7)
7 / 8 grade: 1:30 - 3:00 every Monday and Thursday
For 5th grade parents who are wanting to send in their students for LIPI please let their teacher know. For 6-8 grade parents who are wanting to send in their students for LIPI please let their 1st period teacher know, as well. There is a limited number of students that we can take due to COVID guidelines but we will do our best to bring in as many as we can.
Additionally we will be able to return our 5th and 6th grade students to the classroom on December 7. Unfortunately our metrics do not support returning our 7th and 8th graders just yet. However, our classrooms are ready and when the metrics support those students returning we will do so.
If you do not wish to send your student back to school when metrics allow please contact the middle school front office. We will still offer Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) to those students who will not return to campus.
Thank you so much for your continued support as we navigate through these extraordinary times. Please feel free to contact the front office if you have any questions.
